Abstract

Embroidery, which has an important place in our handicrafts, is among the indispensable parts of clothing, as in all areas of daily life. Among the embroidered products that we frequently encounter in both daily and special occasion clothes worn in the Beypazarı region, the surrounding veils used by women for head decorations attract attention. These unique products, which reflect the refined taste of the local woman, have continued their existence until today through the continuation of the dowry and chest habit by people who adhere to their traditions and customs. The research material consists of 5 embroidered headscarves processed with traditional Turkish embroidery techniques found in Ankara-Beypazarı. Photographs of the embroidered products were taken, and the headscarves' width, length, decoration, composition, technique, color, and material properties were examined and recorded in the prepared product information form. Information about embroidered products was obtained by interviewing the owners of embroidered products. In this research, embroidered headscarves where traditional Turkish hand embroidery was applied were studied in Ankara-Beypazarı. The aim is to reveal the usage area, size, technique, material, color, decoration and composition features of a group of traditional embroidered headscarves found in Beypazarı. The subject discussed in the research is gaining importance in terms of being transferred to future generations and included in the literature.
