One of the leading writers of modern South Azerbaijani prose is Ali Dashgin. The poet is also known as a prose writer. In his prose works, ignorance, the situation of the people of Iran and South Azerbaijan, the lack of women’s rights and social inequality are brought to the fore. The writer in his stories “The Village Bride”, “Shadow of the Flag”, “Shoe Wound”, “Wheat Flowers”, “Day”, “Knife and Bone”, as well as in the story “Blonde”, describes the material and moral problems of people living in Iran and South Azerbaijan, where ignorance and oppression are rampant. The issue of early marriage worries the author most of all. Ali Dashgin's largest literary work is "Hell of Love" (“Sevgi Damosu”), published in Tabriz in 2004. Most of this autobiographical work is written in prose and about a third in verse. The writer's second book is “The Village Bride”, which consists of a preface and five short stories. The story "Wheat Flowers" included in the collection is written in a romantic-symbolic style. In his story "Knife and Bone", Ali Dashgin draws attention to issues such as the ban on the Turkish language in schools and early marriages, while at the same time showing his Azerbaijani Turkish language bigotry.Key words: South Azerbaijani prose, women’s rights, early marriage, the Azerbaijani Turkish language.
